Dear Richard,I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you for the wonderful samba drumming workshops you delivered for us this month. It was a considerable highlight to the week for both classes of students, and it was also great to contextualise the fun of the drumming with information about Brazilian culture! We hope to see you again soon for another exciting workshop.Have a lovely weekend and thanks again. With best wishes,

Thank you so much for delivering such wonderful sessions today. I was amazed at what the children achieved. It was awesome. I have emailed the Head Teacher and said how well the sessions wen t and how good you were, and that we should pencil you in for next year.
Thank you once again. It was lovely to meet you.”
Really useful subject knowledge. The six week plan to use with the class was very much appreciated.
– Year 6 Teacher
A comprehensive step by step guide for nervous teachers lacking in confidence when teaching music.
– Year 5 Teacher
Very interactive, I liked the way the morning was gradually built up to create the “structure” of the composition.
– Year 4 Teacher
I learnt more in one hour with Richard than in all the previous music insets I have done!
Year 3 Teacher
Very good to increase my subject knowledge, fun with practical ideas I know I will be able to use with my class.
Year 1 Teacher
Very enjoyable. I found it very good for my own professional development in terms of learning music notation and terms.
– Foundation Stage Teacher
Today we had a teacher training day to concentrate on creating music and composition. Our school has always had a really good reputation for its music and especially singing, and although our pupils have lots of opportunities to sing and participate in music I felt that the creative/composition element of our music lessons was a bit lacking.
After a discussion with Richard from WorldBeatsMusic, he agreed to trial an inset morning with us and I thoroughly recommend him and his organisation in giving you a really worthwhile, and fun session.
The course was very structured, and very clear and by the end of the session three groups of teachers (many of whom will admit they are not at all musical!) successfully performed a group composition with groove rhythms, a call and response rhythm, a lead and counter melody, and harmony backing. They learnt all about the pentatonic scales, and simple music notation and a good time was had by all.
The staff really appreciated the comprehensive handouts which explained everything we did in the session and there was something for everyone from Foundation Stage to Year Six.
Our next step is for everyone to have a go, and they have been given the task to make a recording with our iPads of a group or their class involved in creative music making which will be presented at our staff meeting the week before half term and Richard is coming along to see the results, and to support any problems encountered.

The African Drumming workshop comes highly recommended! Staff commented on how the music workshops were pitched just right. Your friendly but professional interaction with the children encouraged participation at every level.
Dear Mr Ashton,You are the best drum teach ever!
Dear Mr Ashton,You are the best drumming teacher ever!
Dear Mr Ashton,I am very happy that you let us do all the drumming lessons, I love it when we play rhythm four. I like doing singing most though, especially Jessie J 'Price Tag' and as I said I LOVE DRUMMING and I hope you enjoy teaching us too.
The workshop was very interesting. I enjoyed the beats and the assembly that we showed. I would have loved having a bit more of a challenge. It was brill!!!
